Precious Ismail considers herself a social activist because she grew up in an extremely patriarchal society where young women from low-income backgrounds were the worst victims of poverty. At a young age, she was able to identify this problem and made it her life’s goal to address issues that stemmed from it. Currently, Precious serves as the Student Life Senator at St. Olaf College where she works actively to address student life issues and increase access to mental health on campus. Roles that she has held previously include: Diversity Awareness House President, Co-chair African Students Association, President Initiative for Peace (an Organization that aims to promote Conflict Resolution through Poverty Alleviation in Mindanao, Philippines). Precious is fluent in both English and Chinese. Her passion for economics and economic development is what has inspired her to create opportunities for young women to financially emancipate themselves.
